Quick facts: shipping a car from Dubai to Ghana
Shipping prices are indicative ranges published by UAE exporters, not a quote. Most export cars leave from Jebel Ali Port, the largest port in the Middle East.
Ghana's new import rules from 1 October 2026
- Cars must be under 15 years old from the date of manufacture (Ghana Standards Authority, GS 4510).
- Banned: flood, fire or chassis damaged cars, cars built from parts, cars originally built as right-hand drive, and cars without a km/h speedometer.
- Pre-shipment inspection (a Certificate of Conformity from the GSA approved bodies ATJ and EAA, with the UAE fee set at USD 250) was suspended on 5 October 2026. A new date is to be announced, so check before you ship.
- Older cars can also attract overage penalties under the Customs Act. Ask your clearing agent.
Rules last checked: October 2026. Confirm the final charges with your licensed clearing agent.
What your total cost looks like
Why GCC spec cars suit Ghana
- Left-hand drive from the factory, so there is no conversion issue at Tema.
- Speedometers read in km/h, as Ghana requires.
- Built for hot climates, with stronger cooling and air conditioning.
- Avoid salvage and flood cars: ask the dealer for the history and the VIN before you pay.
